Blue steel, or aogami ("blue paper" steel), is nearly identical to white steel, or shiogami ("white paper" steel), with chrome and tungsten added. This is a very popular steel used in forging high end Japanese kitchen knives. Blue No.2 has the most durable edge due to its hardness.
